World War II vet Waldo Schauperl laid to rest

Waldo Schauperl, 94, World War II U.S. Navy veteran, passed away Aug. 22, 2017, in Marion, with his wife, Mary, by his side. Committal services were Aug. 29 at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery, Jacksonville, Mo., with Pastor James Luders, Cedar Rapids, officiating. Pastor Luders cared for Waldo for several years as a  volunteer through Iowa Hospice and later, Hospice Compassus.
Among survivors are his wife, Mary; children, William Earl of Azle, Texas, Dwight of Higbee, Mo., and Sheri Block of Marion; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and three siblings.
