"Jesus said, ... I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." ~ John 14:6

"Neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow." ~ I Corinthians 3:7

All we need is Jesus

The 2017 Southern Baptist Convention Pastor's Conference got underway Sunday, June 11, and continued through Monday night in Phoenix. The book of Philippians was preached by 12 pastors of average-size churches (250 members or less).

Pastor's Conference President Dave Miller (pastor of Southern Hills Baptist Church in Sioux City, Iowa) and his cohorts partnered with the Caskey Center for Church Excellence of New Orleans Southern Baptist Seminary to put together a plan to raise funds through churches, other organizations and individuals. My husband, Jim Luders (pastor of Lincoln Street Baptist Church in Mount Pleasant, Iowa), was among the 62 small-size church pastors across the country receiving a $1,000 scholarship to attend the pastor's conference and annual meeting. It was not luck of the draw, but rather how fast one's fingers moved across the keyboard - the application was electronically sent out and how fast it was sent back determined who would be a recipient.

Such an honor and multiple blessings.

It would have been nice if I had been able to attend, but it was good for me to be stay here in Cedar Rapids.
